Rickey Henderson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. He was joined by Jim Rice and Joe Gordon. Henderson said in his Hall of Fame speech, "My journey as a player is complete. I am now in the class of the greatest players of all time, and at this moment I am very humbled."
Rickey Henderson, now 50, is the holder of many records including runs scored (2,295), steals (1,406), lead-off homers (81) and unintentional walks (2,129). He also holds the record for the most steals in a season (130).

Masterful serving by Serena Williams, who blasted ground strokes without regard for family ties, had her defeating her sister Venus in Saturday's all Williams Wimbledon final 2009. Serena Williams embraced Venus, after the match in the women's singles final on Wimbledon's Centre Court.
The match was close through the first set, with each of Williams sisters holding serve. But Serena ramped up her power and precision in the second set and closed the contest, 7-6 (3), 6-2, in 87 minutes.
Michael Owen has been signed by the Premiere League champion Manchester United on a two year contract with no transfer fee as Owen was out of contract with his former club Newcastle United. Michael Owen said that he agreed to move to Old Trafford without a moment's thought. "This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I intend to seize it with both hands," said Owen.
Michael Owen has came through a full medical examination in Manchester's Bridgewater Hospital on Thursday. Owen is expected to be officially presented as a Manchester United player when the club’s first team squad return to Carrington training next week. He reportedly will have a basic salary of £30,000 a week. "I am now looking forward to being a Manchester United player and I am fortunate that I already know so many of the players here," Owen said.
As a little girl grew in Georgia, Melanie Oudin has always been dreaming to play at Wimbledon someday just like her idol Justine Henin.
"My goal has always been to become number 1 in the world one day," said the 18 year Melanie Oudin.
Now it looks like that some of Oudin' dreams come true. Making her Wimbledon debut as a qualifier, Melanie Oudin joined Venus and Serena Williams in the fourth round at the All England Club by defeating former number 1 and U.S. Open runner-up Jelena Jankovic 6-7 (8), 7-5, 6-2 over nearly 3 hours Saturday in the most startling result of the 2009 Wimbledon Championships’ opening week after Sabine Lisicki beating Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Unseeded 19 year German tennis player Sabine Lisicki has beaten fifth seed French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova. "I am just so happy," the world number 41 Lisicki said after defeating the Russian by 6-2 7-5 in third round of 2009 Wimbledon Championships.
Sabine Lisicki stated that she didn't have any pressure on herself going into the day six match, allowing her to swing freely. Read More and Pics...

Melissa "Missy" Giove, a 37-year former mountain biking world champion, along with a 30-year man Eric Canori are in custody after being arrested on drug charges. Melissa Giove and Canori were arrested after 200 lbs of marijuana was seized from the truck she was driving. From Canori’s house, FBI agents seized 400 more pounds, plus $1 million in cash! Canori lives near Saratoga Springs. They were moved in federal custody to Albany detention centers. DEA has not released an official statement. Giove and Canori are reportedly not yet commenting. Melissa "Missy" Giove retired from the sports in six years ago.
LA Lakers won more than a title Sunday. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal are tied with four NBA titles each, but there's no doubt whose time this is . . . finally . . . with Kobe, who's 30 to Shaq's 37, on a young powerhouse, as opposed to being shopped around the league. Kobe Bryant joins elite company as a regular-season MVP and the NBA Finals MVP.
The 2009 NBA Champions title marks Lakers' return from a post-Shaq fall. Above all, it marks the arrival of Kobe Bryant as a universally acknowledged all-time great, conferring a legitimacy that was withheld all his career. Making it as official as it gets, Hannah Storm of ESPN's "SportsCenter" announced Monday: "Kobe Bryant can now be placed on the list of the greatest players of all time."
Los Angeles Lakers will have their first parade since 2002 after winning their 15th NBA Finals title on Sunday. LA Lakers parade 2009 was clinched with a pretty easy Game 5 to win the 2009 NBA Finals, and make Orlando Magic home. Game 5 ended the 2009 NBA Finals series the same way it started, with a LA Lakers blowout and their star Kobe Bryant dominating. Lakers had their victory parade with a 99-86 win in Game 5 to win the NBA Finals, 4-1. Kobe Bryant was named NBA Finals MVP in the game.
