PETA Said to Obama "Thou Shalt Not Kill The Fly"
Jun 18, 2009
President Barack Obama's swatting and killing a fly during an interview with CNBC got a quick response from PETA. ABC News reported some animal rights activists of PETA sent the White House a "Katcha Bug" kit that traps bugs so they can be released into nature on Wednesday.
ABC News quoted Bruce Friedrich, VP for policy at PETA, as saying the group supports brushing away flies, not killing them. Friedrich expressed disappointment that the President Obama had killed the fly. "We support compassion for even the smallest of animals," he told ABC. "We support giving insects the benefit of the doubt."
