The wizards must have done their magic and have beaten Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and The Dark Knight (the previous box office record holders) for the top grossing midnight screenings of all time – earning $22.2 million.
With Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince being the highest midnight grossing movie of all time, it is on it’s way to surpass the 23rd spot that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It is highly doubtful that Harry Potter will break into the Top 5 according to its previous numbers. To make it into the Top 5 it will have to gross over $435 million. Although it might make it into the Top 10, it only has to cross Lord of the Rings record which is currently at $377 million.
